Particulars of organization, functions and duties.

ARAI is a co-operative industrial research association established by the automotive industry with the Ministry of Industries, Government of India. ARAI is the nodal center for research and development in the automotive field.
The main activities of the ARAI are: -
Carry out sponsored Research & Development projects for the industry / Government of India / national and international agencies.
Certification of vehicles and components as a notified agency as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules.
  Formulation of automotive standards.
Participation in national and international forit in the automotive technology and related fields.
Carry out own Research Projects in automotive technology.

Powers and duties of officers and employees.

The powers of ARAI officials are well defined at all levels in the organization. The duties are assigned from time to time.

ARAI has formulated the rules for conduct of business in the organization. Major guiding documents are listed below:

Article of Association and Memorandum of Association.
Personnel Policy.
Purchase Policy.

The organization holds the commercial and technical documents regarding the business operations of the organization.

ARAI has also constituted a number of committees to oversee the operations and provide directions/ guidelines. Meetings of these committees are neither open to public nor the minutes are accessible to public.
